Time for Craigslist project/enthusiast car pain olympics

Found these gems while perusing Craigslist for home gym or professional gym equipment.

First, up is my lifeblood: semi-Overland prepped Disco II’s

This 2001 has a bunch of work already done to it, but would likely need a thorough refurb due to it being from such a lowbrow region as Alabama. Asking $5500 ( I would offer 3500 tops)

Next, a 2003 Non-runner Disco 2 with at least a few good parts, namely wheels and tires, asking $3500 (I would offer 2k, since you need to trailer it and fix whatever is wrong with it)

Ok, how about some things that are reliable and actually fun to drive?

2001 Honda S2000 (first gen) just over 100k miles, but has a rebuilt title (don’t they all these days)

Ok time to get into some Euro cars, I suppose we should start with the newest ones first and then bring that pain towards the end.

So, this M3 looks to have been well loved and with so much positive work done to it, I am left wondering why he/she is selling it. (Probably the 150k miles) Anyway he is asking $15000 or for interesting trades, including but not limited to Evos, 370Z’s, and 911’s. It’s at least clean imho.

Let’s say you fancy a very similar power band but want less VANOS problems. How about a 2004 330 ZHP coupe. This white, sunroofed version isn’t too far off the previous M3 miles but looks to be in good shape and gasp! Doesn’t have a rebuilt title. (take a note Honda + Insurance company). The ask is $10,500. Offer $9k and walk?

Well, this is Oppoland and often our motto is “More is always better” especially when referring to cylinders. So enters stage right this 99 540i (e39). And situated in our favorite place is our favorite friend, Mañual.

Only a couple more german cars to go. 1993 BMW M3 in white w/ 160k miles, clean title, books and records (wonder how detailed and how many years backward) for $4900. That seems to be the most reasonable price I have seen yet in all of my days looking at Craigslist ads.

And last but certainly not least, the embodiment of 80s mid-upper-management and cocaine, a 1985 M535i (Euro import so he/she says) with a seriously “far from good, good from afar” paintjob, manual transmission, serious looking brake upgrade, sitting on M-Parallels for the “fair condition” price of $7500.

Okay so that is all of the German manual, RWD cars I could fin in my area that are worth the time to click. Now it’s time for something.....Italian.....

Anyone besides 505 fancy a 1989 Maserati 430 Biturbo? 51k miles showing but a DMV error put 69000 miles on the title statement. (Whomp whomp shit’s starting to stink really quick here) Oh and not to alarm anyone but this “beloved, exotic sedan with a crazy potential for crazy power when tuned properly” just received $3400 in service. So you know that they at least swapped the spark plugs, flushed the brakes, conducted an oil and filter change, and topped up the coolant and power steering fluids. What say you Oppo to the $6600 ask? Man, that is kind of a lot of sixes in and around this car, something you might attribute to a certain prince of darkness.

Okay, since you guys have been so patient I will give you something actually cool, hoonable without worry or need for mercy, a 2008 Factory Five GTM LS6 w/140 miles for the low, low price of $53000.

I’ve been gaggin for a Range Rover as of late. There are a Fuck ton of £5000 MK3 Range Rover on Autotrader and while they’ve all done 150,000 miles + they are probably more reliable than new Rovers.

That non running disco could probably just be a bad crank position sensor. One of the guys in my club picked up a D2 for $500 and all it needed was a CPS. He turned around and sold it for $4000. Also I’d offer the guy $1000 for the truck, you can get a somewhat running truck for $2000.
